Vol. 423 No. 1

Written Answers. - Peace Commissioner Appointments.

Bernard Allen

Question:

164 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice if he will give details on a constituency by constituency basis of the number of Peace Commissioners who have been appointed in each of the years between 1987 and 1991, and to date in 1992; and if he will give the names and addresses of the appointees.

The numbers of peace commissioners appointed, and the breakdown by county, for each of the years 1987 to 1991 and to the end of August 1992 are set out in the tabular statement below.

Statistics are not maintained in such a way as to enable the more detailed information sought in the question to be readily provided. Over 1,200 appointments as peace commissioner were made in the period in question and it would require the commitment of a disproportionate amount of staff time to specially extract that more detailed information.
