Vol. 423 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Kilkenny Schools.

Phil Hogan

Question:

74 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on the new national school at Clogh, County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Tenders for the proposed new school are at present under examination in my Department. When this examination has been completed, and subject to the tenders being found satisfactory, a decision will then be taken on the placing of a contract in the light of the availability of capital resources.

Question:

75 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on the extension to St. John's boys school, County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Sketch plans for the proposed extension to St. John's boys school, which is to serve as the senior co-educational national school in St. John's Parish, are at present being prepared by my Department's professional advisers. The plans are expected to be ready for transmission to the school authorities this month to enable them to seek planning permission for the scheme. As the project is at an early stage of the planning process, it is not, however, possible to say when work will commence.
