John V. Farrelly

Question:

101 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for the Environment his plans regarding the development of the fire station at Kells, County Meath; if he will allocate funds for the commencement of this work early in 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 100 and 101 together. The information requested is as follows:

(a) Public Water Schemes

Trim, Batterstown.

(b) Public Sewerage Schemes

Navan, Trim (Extension), Batterstown, Ashbourne, Dunboyne-Clonee.

The estimated aggregate cost of these schemes is £12.5 million. It is not possible to indicate which schemes may be approved in 1993.

(c) Local authority housing schemes

There are no proposals for local authority housing schemes awaiting approval. It will be a matter for the Council to nominate the schemes they propose to commence in 1993.

(d) Special grants for road repairs and building

There are no requests for special road grants with the Department of the Environment.

(e) Fire Stations

Kells.

Meath County Council's estimate of the cost of the proposal, which is under examination, is £316,516. My Department will be communicating with the Council in the matter as soon as possible.
(f)Libraries
Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne, Oldcastle, Laytown.
The aggregate cost of these proposals is £1.174 million, which includes the provision of buildings and bookstock. The Dunshaughlin proposal was approved in principle on 27 February 1992.
