Vol. 423 No. 4

Written Answers. - Proposed Donegal Town By-Pass.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

168 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the proposed Donegal town by-pass; the stage that the planning of the by-pass has reached; and when he expects work to commence on the project.

A by-pass of Donegal town was not included in the tentative list of major improvement projects on national primary roads planned to commence and/or be completed in the period 1989-93 under the Operational Programme on Peripherality. Discussions have taken place between officials of my Department and the local authority about this scheme and I understand the local authority has investigated three route options and that a route has been selected. The timing and construction of the by-pass would fall to be considered in the context of the preparation of the next roads programme which will cover the period after 1993.
