Vol. 423 No. 4

Written Answers. - Energy Conservation.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

49 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Energy if his attention has been drawn to the criticisms of his policy with regard to energy conservation made by a group (details supplied); his response to these criticisms; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The comments on energy conservation policy in the reports referred to related to improved insulation and the use of combined heat and power systems (CHP). These are in fact two areas which feature in my Department's energy conservation programme. CHP development has opened a new field of energy saving which I am anxious to see fully exploited if the projects concerned are technically and economically feasible.
