Question:

110 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the amount claimed in travelling and subsistence expenses by each member of the Prison Visiting Committee in the year ended 30 September 1992.

The amounts paid to date in 1992 to members of the 12 visiting committees (to prisons and places of detention) for travelling and subsistence expenses are as follows:

Mountjoy Prison

One member received £2,870.39.

Training Unit

Three members received sums of £2,344.91, £1,732.62 and £316.41, respectively.

Loughan House

Nine members received sums of £99.93, £537.74, £20.44, £81.64, £470.57, £1,337.49, £77.74, £152.22 and £81.54, respectively.

Wheatfield, Place of Detention

Nine members received sums of £2,602.83, £2,299.46, £51.93, £39.90, £13.85, £2,235.44, £127.38, £42.56 and £2,292.98, respectively.

Shanganagh Castle
Three members received sums of £125.83, £1,902.11 and £1,924.44, respectively.
Shelton Abbey
Twelve members received sums of £31.92, £152.96, £139.65, £37.24, £79.80, £37.24, £37.24, £111.72, £21.28, £37.24, £31.92 and £21.28, respectively.
Cork Prison
Four members received sums of £145.40, £103.86, £404.68 and £850.62, respectively.
Arbour Hill Prison
Six members received sums of £46.55, £38.90, £93.10, £207.22, £106.40 and £53.20, respectively.
St. Patrick's Institution
One members received, £1,455.24.
Limerick Prison
Nine members received sums of £265.23, £140.40, £392.76, £1,018.20, £280.05, £485.86, £195.24, £491.52 and £193.79, respectively.
Fort Mitchel
Nine members received sums of £79.76, £63.84, £698.51, £418.68, £957.67, £111.72, £651.67, £37.24 and £15.96, respectively.
Portlaoise Prison
Ten members received sums of £559.94, £994.44, £85.12, £127.68, £143.64, £585.20, £259.35, £574.56, £117.04 and £492.00, respectively.
