Vol. 423 No. 4

Written Answers. - Eastern Health Board Property.

Tony Gregory

Question:

147 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health the steps, if any, being taken to dispose of the building known as the Lourdes Unit, Navan Road, Dublin 7, and the land surrounding it, in his ownership; the time scale for its disposal; and when the derelict building will be demolished.

The Lourdes Unit, Navan Road and the land surrounding it is owned by the Eastern Health Board. The board intends to provide a modern unit for the elderly on the site and proposes to demolish the existing building to facilitate this new development.

I understand that the Eastern Health Board is at an advanced stage of negotiating the disposal of part of these lands in order to create partial funding for the new unit on the remaining land. Until these negotiations have been completed and I have consented to the sale of the land, the board cannot give a specific time scale for demolition of the derelict building.
