Question:84 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health the number of medical cards in circulation on 1 June in each of the years 1990, 1991 and 1992; and the percentage of the population covered by medical cards on each date.

As information regarding the number of medical cards and the numbers of people covered by them is collated by the General Medical Services (Payments) Board at the end of each quarter, I do not have the figures exactly as requested by the Deputy. However, the position as on the 30 June for the relevant years is as follows:
