Allocation of Time: Motion.

I move

That, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders, in the case of statements in relation to the Government's Green Paper on Education which shall be made on Friday, 16th October, 1992 the following arrangements shall apply: (1) Members may make more than one statement;

(2) until 1 p.m. Members shall be called on to make statements in accordance with the following Table and statements shall not exceed the time specified:

Spokesperson for the Government

20 minutes

Spokesperson for the Fine Gael Party

20 minutes

Spokesperson for the Labour Party

20 minutes

Spokesperson for the Democratic Left Party

10 minutes

Spokesperson for the Fine Gael Party

10 minutes

Spokesperson for the Government

10 minutes

Subsequent statements

10 minutes

(3) on the conclusion of such statements Members shall be called on to make further statements in accordance with the following Table and statements shall not exceed the time specified:

(4) not later than 2.20 p.m. and 3.50 p.m., Members shall have 10 minutes to request the Minister (or his substitute, as the case may be) to clarify specific issues in respect of Primary and Secondary Education and Third Level, Continuing and Other Education respectively, and

(5) the Minister for Education may nominate another Member to speak in his stead.
