Vol. 423 No. 6

Written Answers. - Courthouse Renovation.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

33 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Justice the amount which has been spent on the restoration and repair of Clonmel Courthouse, County Tipperary.

The arrangement whereby my Department recoups to local authorities the capital cost of approved major courthouse renovation projects was introduced only last year. Under that arrangement a total of £23,000 has been recouped to Tipperary (SR) County Council to-date in respect of professional fees related to the planning of Phase II of the Clonmel Courthouse restoration project. Phase I of the project predated the new arrangement and was financed by the county council itself with the assistance of local loans fund borrowing.
