Vol. 423 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Dublin Road Building Programme.

Mervyn Taylor

Question:

46 Mr. Taylor asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the current programme of road building in the greater Dublin area.

Road grants totalling £30.919 million have been allocated to the three road authorities in the greater Dublin Area this year. I propose to circulate with the official report details of the allocations to each authority showing, inter alia, grants for specific improvement works, and discretionary and block grants for non-national roads. These latter supplement the provision made by the local authorities, from their own resources, for works on non-national roads. The selection of works to be carried out from these funds is a matter for the local authorities subject to general guidelines by my Department.
