Vol. 423 No. 8

Written Answers. - Housing Applicants.

Bernard Allen

Question:

53 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment the way in which he proposes to cater for the 30,000 housing applicants.

The most recent assessment of local authority housing needs revealed 23,242 households approved for local authority housing at 31 March 1991. With the publication of the Plan for Social Housing and the enactment of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provision) Act, 1992, the traditional means of meeting social housing needs has been supplemented by a comprehensive range of other measures.
