Vol. 423 No. 8

Written Answers. - Callan (County Kilkenny) Road Works.

Godfrey Timmins

Question:

60 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Environment the progress, if any, which is being made towards the provision of a by-pass road and new bridge at Callan, County Kilkenny in view of the severe traffic problems in that town.

The Compulsory Purchase Order relating to this scheme was confirmed by me in April, 1992. The question of providing a road grant to enable work to commence on the scheme will be considered when the grants for future years are being determined, having regard to the overall level of funds available for improvements to national secondary roads and the competing demands of other projects throughout the country.
