Vol. 423 No. 8

Written Answers. - Boulea (County Tipperary) Group Water Scheme.

Michael Ferris

Question:

61 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received proposals from the South Tipperary County Council for a group water scheme at Boulea, The Commons, Ballingarry, Thurles, County Tipperary; if his attention has been drawn to the risk caused to public health in this area arising from the lack of a water supply for the community; when approval will be given for the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Group scheme grants and estimated local contributions would together provide only about half of the financing required for this scheme and, under present arrangements, a further grant from the budget for public water and sewerage schemes would be required. Having regard to existing commitments under the water and sanitary services programme, it is not possible to indicate when the scheme may be approved.
