Vol. 423 No. 8

Written Answers. - Homeless Persons.

Edward Nealon

Question:

64 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of the 1992 allocation for the recoupment of expenditure incurred by local authorities in relation to accommodation for homeless persons which has been expended to date in 1992; the number of homeless persons who have been assisted in this way; and the way in which that number compares with the number for the corresponding period in 1991.

The total amount paid so far in 1992 to local authorities in recoupment of expenditure incurred by them under section 10 of the Housing Act, 1988 in relation to the accommodation of homeless persons is £372,259. The figure for the corresponding period in 1991 was £140,017. Information on the number of homeless persons to whom the expenditure related is not available in my Department.
