18 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on the fact that there has been an increase of over 50 per cent, since 1986, in the number of animals used in painful experiments under the Cruelty to Animals Act, 1876.

I have to refer the Deputy to my reply to the same question on 23 June when I pointed out that the increase since 1986 was not of the order suggested by the Deputy.
