Vol. 424 No. 1

Written Answers. - Waterford Regional Hospital.

Austin Deasy

Question:

52 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that the construction of the proposed new psychiatric unit at Waterford Regional Hospital commences immediately in view of the serious difficulties being experienced by the psychiatric consultant staff at St. Declan's Unit of Waterford Regional Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Plans for the provision of a new psychiatric unit at Waterford Regional Hospital are at an advanced stage and it is hoped that construction of the unit as part of the overall Ardkeen Hospital development will commence shortly. The new unit will replace St. Declan's Unit in Ardkeen Hospital as the admission facility for the Waterford city and county psychiatric service.
