Vol. 424 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Transport System.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

138 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education the number of changes or limitation to the school transport system which have taken place since June, 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to alterations in the terms of operation of the school transport scheme.

From September 1992 pupils, previously ineligible for fare paying transport to a school other than their nearest, may now be considered for this concession. This concession is subject to spare accommodation being available on the service after all fully eligible children have been accommodated, and to no extra costs being incurred.
