Question:

156 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons for the non-allocation of national lottery grants for amenity projects and recreational facilities for 1992; and if he will review the situation with a view to making an allocation for 1992 given the hardship being caused for thousands of voluntary sporting and community organisations throughout the country arising from the non-allocation of such grants.

In preparing the estimates for 1992 the Government decided, in the context of the budgetary position, there would be no provision for a new amenity/recreational facilities grants scheme in 1992. It is not my intention to change this position.
