Question:

33 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if he will approve a higher education grant for a person (details supplied) in Country Waterford to repeat the second year of a B.A. degree at Maynooth College, County Kildare in view of all the factors relating to the case; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the terms of the Higher Education Grants Scheme a grant is not payable in respect of a repeat year.

In relation to the specific case raised by the Deputy, I would refer him to Waterford Corporation, which is the relevant body statutorily entrusted with the administration of the scheme.
