Vol. 424 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Appllications

Bernard Allen

Question:

64 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education if he proposes to amend the regulations in order to eliminate the situation where a person is charged for simply applying for a third level grant as a signature of a District Justice or Commissioner of Oaths costs between £10 and £30.

It is considered essential that, on completion of an application form for a third level student support grant, a sworn declaration in the presence of an appropriate authority be made to the effect that the information given on the form is true, complete and accurate in every respect.

In the ongoing review of the student support schemes, I will consider this particular aspect to ensure that applicants are not unduly charged.
