Vol. 424 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Caretaker.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

81 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education if he will approve a permanent caretaker for St. Josephs Primary School, Navan, County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the terms of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress a phased programme of financial assistance by way of a supplementary grant for the provision of caretaking and clerical services in national schools has been introduced from the 1st September 1992.

The initial phase of the programme has targeted schools with enrolments of 500 pupils or over which has not had caretaking and/or clerical assistance already.

It is not possible at this stage to state when the school in question might be assisted at a later phase of this programme.
