115 Mrs. Fennell asked the Minister for Energy the number of women on the boards of agencies and companies under his control at the end of 1991; the plans, if any, he has to increase the number in 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
At the end of 1991 there were three women on the Boards of the State Bodies under the aegis of my Department.
So far in 1992, I have appointed seven women to these Boards and the total number of female Board members now stands at eight. This includes the appointment of a woman as Chairperson to the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland.
I will, as heretofore, endeavour to increase female membership on Boards, as vacancies arise and suitably qualified candidates are available.
