Vol. 424 No. 2

Written Answers. - Renewal of Publican's Licence.

Michael Finucane

Question:

119 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Justice the process for the renewal of a publican's licence as the original owner has allowed the licence to lapse and the new owner of the property will be anxious to renew this licence; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The information requested by the Deputy would constitute legal advice. It is outside the scope of my official functions to offer legal advice and I could not with propriety do so. All I can say is that section 2 of the Licensing (Ireland) Act, 1902, as amended by section 23 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1960, makes provision for the grant in certain circumstances of a new licence for the sale of intoxicating liquor for premises which had previously been licensed.
