Question:129 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education when submissions on the Green Paper on Education are to be submitted; and when a White Paper on Education and an Education Bill will be framed.

I have already confirmed to the House that I will ensure adequate time is made available to all parties to submit their views and that they are fully consulted in advance of writing of the White Paper.
A substantive, nationwide debate is currently under way and it is important that the issues are considered fully and conclusions reached. All I believe recognise the importance of proceeding as quickly as possible to the formulation of policy.
I have not set a specific date at this stage for the publication of the White Paper. However, I will keep the matter under consideration and will proceed to its publication at the earliest possible date, to be followed by draft legislation shortly afterwards.
