Vol. 424 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ballincollig (Cork) By-pass.

Peter Barry

Question:

157 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for the Environment if there were any proposals or submissions to construct a by-pass at Ballincollig, County Cork; if so, if there are either Exchequer or Structural Funds available for the purpose; when it was proposed the work would start; the cost of the project and the completion date; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Cork County Council have submitted outline proposals for a by-pass of Ballincollig and these have been discussed with the local authority. Having regard to the programme of roadworks already under way and planned for the Cork area, and the preliminary nature of the proposals, it would be premature to speculate on the timing and cost of such a project. The allocation of funds does not arise at this stage.
