Vol. 424 No. 5

Written Answers. - Block Grants.

Peter Barry

Question:

158 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the proposal to link Church Road and Convent Road, to provide a relief route for Black-rock Village in Cork, and to provide environmental benefits for the residents there, he will provide funding to facilitate this work, particularly for the provision of a bridge over the disused railway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As such a proposal would involve the construction of a non-national road, responsibility in the matter rests with the local authority concerned. The cost would fall to be financed from the authority's own resources supplemented by the block grants allocated annually by my Department.
