Vol. 424 No. 5

Written Answers. - Signposting Costs.

Peter Barry

Question:

159 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide funds to assist county councils to provide better signposting on secondary and minor roads; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The cost of providing signposting on national secondary routes is accepted as a charge against the national secondary road maintenance grants which are allocated annually. In the case of non-national roads, signposting costs are chargeable against the annual discretionary grants.
