Vol. 424 No. 5

Written Answers. - Organic Farming Inspection Body.

Ivan Yates

Question:

201 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if recognition will be given to an organisation (details supplied) as an official bona fide representative of organic farming, in view of their high standards and objectives; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department are in correspondence with the organisation in question regarding its application to be an approved private inspection body to whom organic producers are subject under EC Regulation 2092/91. That application is currently being examined and a decision will be conveyed to the organisation as soon as possible.
