Vol. 424 No. 5

Written Answers. - Repossession of Dwellings.

Tom Enright

Question:

72 Mr. Enright asked the Minister for Justice the total numbers of orders sought by building societies, banks and other financial institutions for repossession of dwelling houses, in each Circuit Court in Ireland, at the latest date for which such information is available, to include both well charging orders and applications for repossession; and the total numbers of orders sought by local authorities for repossessions of dwelling houses at the latest date for which such information is available.

The information requested by the Deputy is not available from central records and could be compiled only by detailed searches through the records of 26 separate offices. Such searches could be undertaken only by the allocation of scarce staff resources to the task at the expenses of other more pressing duties, which would not be warranted.
