Vol. 424 No. 5

Written Answers. - Fybough (Kerry) National School.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

102 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if the staff at Fybough national school, County Kerry will be reduced to two teachers.

The staffing of national schools for a particular year is determined by the enrolment in the school on 30 September of the previous year.

The school in question had a valid enrolment of 59 on 30 September 1992 which under the current staffing schedule warrants a staff of principal and one assistant for the 1993-94 school year. The second assistant at present serving in the school will be placed on the redeployment panel.

The only deviation from this agreement is in the case of maximum class size guidelines set out by my Department being breached. The position in this school can be looked at by my Department in September 1993 in this regard.
