Written Answers. - Dingle (Kerry) Helicopter Crash.

Question:

17 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if she will make a statement regarding a helicopter crash in Dingle, County Kerry on 31st May, 1992; whether the investigation, if any, into the cause of this accident had been completed; if the result of such investigation will be published; and if any criminal investigation is being pursued in relation to this accident.

My Department is currently investigating the accident in question. It is a statutory requirement that such investigations be conducted in private.

When the Inspector of Accidents submits his report on this accident, I shall consider it with a view to publication.

The question of whether or not criminal investigation is being pursued is a matter for the Garda.
