Vol. 424 No. 6

Written Answers. - DART Services.

Ivor Callely

Question:

79 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if, in view of the particular difficulties, mainly due to the success of the DART, being experienced by the general public, residents, motorists and passengers of the public transport network system in close proximity to Killester and Harmonstown DART stations in Dublin she will support and encourage, as part of development of our network, a purpose built DART station on the northside of the city to facilitate passengers, feeder bus services and motorists; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The provision and upgrading of stations and facilities on the commuter rail network is a matter for Iarnród Éireann. I have been informed by the Chairman of CIE that the need for additional stations and facilities on the network is kept under continuous review by the company. I also understand that enhancement of DART services, including the provision of additional stations, is under consideration in the context of the Interim Report of the Dublin Transportation Initiative which is expected shortly.
