Vol. 424 No. 8

Written Answers. - Business Debts.

Vincent Brady

Question:

131 Mr. V. Brady asked the Minister for Justice the proposals, if any, he has to introduce new legislation to deal with business debts as, at present, businesses are finding it increasingly impossible to sue successfully for outstanding debts and the consequential effect for many small businesses is disastrous.

The Law Reform Commission's first report on debt collection, dealing with the law relating to sheriffs, is being examined in my Department. Any proposals I may have following that examination will be announced in the normal way in due course.
