Vol. 424 No. 8

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Michael Bell

Question:

248 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in the payment of a free fuel allowance to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and when payment will be made.

An application for Free Fuel Allowance was received from the person concerned on 5 October 1992. The allowance has been awarded with effect from 15 October 1992, the commencement date of the fuel season. A payable order book for the allowance issued to the post office of payment on 27 October 1992.

The delay in issuing the book was caused by the volume of applications received for this allowance at this time of the year.
