Vol. 424 No. 8

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit Claim.

John Browne

Question:

250 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in reaching a decision resulting from an oral hearing of 6th July, 1992 for a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.

The person's claim to Unemployment Assistance was disallowed following a review of his means on the grounds that he failed to show that his means did not exceed the statutory limit. He appealed this decision to the independent Social Welfare Appeals Office and an oral hearing of his appeal was held on 6 July 1992. Arising from information supplied at the hearing the Appeals Officer requested further investigations into the transfer of land by the appellant and the ownership of a herd number. These investigations are being completed and the Appeals Officer will then be in a position to consider the case.
