Vol. 424 No. 8

Written Answers. - Donegal Harbour Development.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

100 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Marine the present position regarding the proposed development of Burtonport Harbour, County Donegal; and when it is expected that work will commence on the project.

My Department's fishery harbour development programme 1989-1993 makes provision for dredging work at Burtonport, County Donegal. To date a hydrographic survey has been undertaken to determine the bed level and a probing survey was undertaken to establish the extent of rock present. A site investigation was undertaken during the summer and is now completed and the results of this investigation are being evaluated. I expect to be in a position shortly to finalise this evaluation and to decide if this project can be included in the 1993 Harbour Development Programme.
