Vol. 424 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dublin Port Authority Application.

Vincent Brady

Question:

108 Mr. V. Brady asked the Minister for the Marine if he proposes to continue the commitment given by his predecessor in 1989 with regard to an application from the Dublin Port Authority in relation to a Harbour Works Order which has been an issue of great contention with local residents and other bodies in the Dublin Bay area for a number of years.

As the Deputy is aware, the Dublin Port and Docks Board asked my predecessor to defer making any decision on this application until they had completed discussions with local community groups. I am awaiting a report on the outcome of these discussions from the board, which is expected shortly.

If the harbour works proposal is resubmitted to me for consideration I will, of course, consider all aspects of this complex matter before coming to any decision on the application.
