Vol. 424 No. 8

Written Answers. - European Community Immigration Policy.

Phil Hogan

Question:

118 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Justice the way in which the prospect of increasing numbers of migrants entering the European Community is likely to be tackled post-1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Treaty on European Union provides for co-operation between member states for the purposes of achieving the objectives of the Union, including co-operation in the area of immigration policy and policy regarding nationals of third countries. In advance of the ratification of the Treaty by all of the member states, it would be unproductive to speculate as to what form such co-operation will take.
