Question:

124 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice the number of licensed premises prosecuted for selling intoxicating liquor to persons under the age of 18 years in each of the years 1988 to 1991.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 123 and 124 together.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the number of persons prosecuted for selling or supplying drink to persons under 18 years in each of the years referred to is as follows:—

Year

Prosecutions

1988

29

1989

121

1990

118

1991

166

The more specific information requested by the Deputy is not readily available and could be compiled only by the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources.
