134 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the proposals, if any, he has to introduce a financing mechanism for funding for the research and development of the beef sector, as already applies with Teagasc in the dairy sector.
The dairy industry contributes funds to Teagasc by way of a voluntary levy. This arrangement is entirely a matter between Teagasc and the industry itself. Similar arrangements on beef would be a matter between Teagasc and the beef industry.
I have no proposals for the introduction of statutory levies to fund Teagasc activities.
