Vol. 424 No. 9

Written Answers. - Intervention Level.

Ivan Yates

Question:

149 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the beef price at which the safety net intervention level will apply, in view of the proposed changes in Common Agricultural Policy on the intervention beef regime for 1 January 1993.

The Common Agricultural Policy reform arrangements for the beef sector provides that, from 1 January 1993 safety net intervention shall come into operation where, for two consecutive weeks, the average Community market price remains below 78 per cent of the intervention price and the average market price in a particular member state remains below 60 per cent of the intervention price.

The intervention price for the current marketing years is 343 ECUs, IR£301.42, per 100 kg.
