Vol. 424 No. 9

Written Answers. - Teagasc Horticultural Resources.

Ivan Yates

Question:

152 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if adequate resources are being made available to, and within, Teagasc for horticulture; and the proposals, if any, he has to upgrade the services in this regard.

It is a matter for Teagasc to allocate resources to the various activities and programmes, including horticulture, within the organisation in the context of the overall budget available.

I understand that Teagasc are making a further capital investment in research facilities for mushrooms at the Kinsealy centre. It also is providing a specialised advisory service for horticultural producers on a fee basis.
