Vol. 424 No. 9

Written Answers. - Commitments to Farmers under Programme for Economic and Social Progress.

Ivan Yates

Question:

103 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the Government has fulfilled all commitments made in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress to the farming organisations; and if not, when they will be implemented.

The Programme for Economic and Social Progress, which covers the period 1991 to 1993, provides that there should be a review by October this year. This review is being conducted by the Central Review Committee (CRC) which is representative of all the signatories of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress. The review will assess the degree to which the targets and objectives of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress have been achieved. A draft report of the review is at present being finalised by the CRC. Pending completion of this report, it would not be appropriate to anticipate or pre-empt the conclusions of the CRC.
