Vol. 424 No. 10

Ceisteanna — Questions. Written Answers. - Clinical Waste.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

104 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the waste plans for clinical waste arising from the veterinary profession which are in place in his Department.

The disposal of clinical waste is a matter for the producer and must be disposed of in accordance with the relevant legislation, which is operated by local authorities. Furthermore the Veterinary Council's "Guide to Professional Behaviour" advises on the disposal of drugs, syringes and needles. My Department does not operate any controls in this area.
