Vol. 424 No. 10

Ceisteanna — Questions. Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

107 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the long delay in relation to the appeal of a person (details supplied) in County Cavan; whether he is aware that this appeal was lodged in July, 1992 and that no decision has yet been made.

The person concerned is in receipt of Old Age Non-Contributory Pension. He was also in receipt of the additional allowance of £4.30 per week in respect of a person living alone. This Living Alone Allowance was terminated in July when it was decided that he no longer fulfilled the conditions of living alone.

An appeal on his behalf against this decision was made on 1 September and received in the Social Welfare Appeals Office on 14 September. An oral hearing of the appeal is necessary and this will be arranged as soon as possible.
