Vol. 424 No. 10

Ceisteanna — Questions. Written Answers. - FÁS Schemes.

Austin Deasy

Question:

112 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Labour if he will extend the scope of FÁS schemes to include the analysis and display of folklore material which has been collected over the past 70 years but has not been made available to the general public.

I am aware that FÁS provides assistance from time to time for once-off projects in the heritage area where scope exists to provide worth-while training or employment opportunities for persons seeking employment. It is a day-to-day matter for FÁS to determine which projects should be assisted.

Overall responsibility relating to heritage affairs and the National Archives rests with the Department of the Taoiseach.
