Vol. 424 No. 10

Ceisteanna — Questions. Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

John Connor

Question:

22 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Finance if he will make a statement on the Government's intention in relation to the decentralisation, or part decentralisation, of a Government Department to a centre in County Roscommon; and his views on whether the case for decentralisation to County Roscommon cannot be gainsaid in view of the fact that it is the only place in the Western/Midlands region that has not benefited from the scheme to date.

As announced by the Taoiseach yesterday the General Register Office, a section within the Department of Health will be transferred to Roscommon Town as part of the decentralisation programme. Arrangements are now in train to ensure the smooth implementation of the project without delay.
