Vol. 424 No. 10

Ceisteanna — Questions. Written Answers. - Projected Unemployment Figures.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

56 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance whether unemployment projections have been revised upwards in the light of recent financial turmoil and interest rate increases; and if so, if he will give details of such revised projections.

The last comprehensive assessment of the economic outlook, including unemployment, was made in mid-year and was published in August in "Economic Review and Outlook". That assessment of the likely outturn for 1992 is currently under review as part of the usual preparations for the coming year's budget. As normal, the Department's expectations for economic developments, as then seen, will be published at that time.
