Ceisteanna — Questions. Written Answers. - Access to Dáil Public Gallery.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

57 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance the provisions, if any, he intends to make to ensure the easiest possible access for disabled people to the public gallery of Dáil Éireann; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

To enhance access for disabled people to the public gallery in Dáil Éireann a new lift has recently been installed and a special platform for wheelchairs has been provided in the gallery itself.

Designs have now been drawn up and work will soon commence on an external ramp at the visitors' entrance to the building which, when taken in conjunction with the works already carried out, will give unimpaired access for wheelchair users to the public gallery. Work on this ramp will be completed before the Christmas recess.
